I/m not a supporter of the death penalty, but the case of Jason King, sentenced to just 24 years, does start to try my position.
Jason King, 38, from Balfour Street in Newtownards, County Down, was told that he was every parent’s worst nightmare.
Mr Justice Gillen said he considered King’s case to be “probably the worst instance of multiple child abuse” that he had come across.
He was sentenced at Belfast Crown Court after being convicted on 58 counts.
These included nine rapes and 25 indecent assaults which dated from 1986 when he separated from his wife.
King was said to have groomed and preyed on the schoolgirls, aged between 12 and up to 15. Two of them became pregnant.
Mr Justice Gillen instructed that he sign the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life and barred him from ever working with children.
He also stipulated that in order to protect the public from King, believed to be at high risk of reoffending, would be released on licence.
I’m firmly of the belief that King should never be released; he will always be a danger to children, why should another child suffer at his hands?
Arsenal v Liverpool
AS Roma v Man Utd
Schalke 04 v FC Barcelona
Fenerbahce v Chelsea
Champions League semi-final draw:
Arsenal/Liverpool v Fenerbahce/Chelsea
Schalke/Barcelona v AS Roma/Man Utd
So it’s set up so we (Chelsea) could meet Liverpool in the semis yet again; will it be third time lucky? The first time we lost 1-0, the second time we lost on penalties so third we’ll win – I can but hope. Still Liverpool have to overcome Arsenal first.

I’ve just visited Rudis Muiznieks’ Cectic for the first time – a collection of well over a hundred of his humours cartoons examining religion.
I like lists, The Observer ranks the world’s 50 most powerful blogs of which I read absolutely none, although I do have a friend who’s addicted to the blog at number four – Perez Hilton. Looks like 50 blogs I need to investigate when I get a chance, which probably means no chance.
Chicken Yoghurt has a sad indictment of our MPs.

After Manchester United’s loss on Saturday to Portsmouth both Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlos Queiroz criticised the referee and for this, they’re both required to explain their comments to the FA.
I’m no fan of Man Utd but I’d like an explanation from Keith Hackett, the head of the Professional Game Match Officials Board on the appalling performance of referee Martin Atkinson. How did he fail to give Lassana Diarra a yellow card for his foul on Christano Ronaldo in the opening minutes or in the seventh minute why wasn’t a penalty awarded United against Sylvain Distin for yet another foul on Ronaldo.
Whilst this is the standard of refereeing we’ve come to expect, when is it going to improve. Don’t expect any answers from Keith Hackett; instead expect fines for Ferguson and Queiroz.
If like me your phone is also your diary, then it was an absolute pain when the company I worked for outlawed the use of personal phones as part of its compliance with the ISO 27001 Security Management Standard. I’m too lowly an employee to qualify for a laptop or for that matter a company phone.
So, until I discovered GooSync I was at a loss. Now, however, I can synchronise my phone calendar with Google calendar. Which perhaps doesn’t sound much until you realise you can automatically synchronise Google Calendar with Microsoft Outlook. Which for me is job done. My work calendar on Outlook and Google automatically synchronise and I synchronise my phone with Google Calendar when I like. Did that make sense? It did to me at least. Thanks to davblog for pointing me in the direction of GooSync. And before anyone asks, I’m only using the free version of GooSync.
School-leavers are to be encouraged to swear an oath of allegiance to Queen and country under proposals on British citizenship unveiled by Lord Goldsmith. I guess this sort of proposal is what a champagne socialist comes up with – royalty is nothing to do with citizenship, it’s about subjects, because that’s what we are subjects of the queen – get rid of royalty and then we become citizens. What nonsense. Source: BBC.
John Hutton, Business Secretary says we should “celebrate the fact that people can be enormously wealthy in this country”. Source: BBC.
Personally, people that are rich do all the celebrating they need without any help Labour ministers. Have politicians of the left become so bankrupt of morals that they feel it necessary to celebrate greed – yes enormously wealthy is but a pseudonym for greed – there comes a point when you have too much.
After Manchester United went down 1-0 at home to Portsmouth, I rather thought the FA Cup was ours. Still nothing was further from the truth as we went down unbelievably 1-0 to Barnsley. We didn’t look up for it and seemed bereft of ideas, Anelka and Malouda failed to make any impact on the game at all. Flourent Malouda is a prime example of the club continuing to pay too much money for too many players that aren’t worth it.
Still the cloud this weekend did have a silver lining Arsenal failed to win at Wigan, although on current performances I doubt we’ll take advantage.
